Enabling Safe, Scalable Offshore Operations with Offshare

At a glance:

  • Market : Offshore wind energy
  • Scope : Marine coordination, safety, work permits, and operational workflows across a multi-park offshore wind portfolio
  • Mission: Enable safe, compliant, and scalable offshore operations through one integrated digital platform

The challenge

As an offshore wind developer and operator, Parkwind, now part of JERA Nex bp, manages multiple wind parks in Belgium, Germany, and beyond. With the expansion of JERA Nex bp’s portfolio, operational complexity increased rapidly. Marine coordination has evolved from simple daily vessel planning to multi-park logistics. Vessels move between multiple parks, crews rotate continuously, and hotel vessels remain offshore for extended periods. Operators carry growing responsibility for health, safety, environment (HSE), legal compliance, and data protection.

“Once you move from one park to a full portfolio, standalone tools no longer work,” explains Kristof Verlinden, Head of O&M and Asset Management. “You need real-time insight into where people are, what they’re doing, and whether everything is compliant.”

Existing tools on the market were often fragmented, adapted from oil and gas, or focused on a single
aspect of operations. They lacked an integrated approach and raised concerns around GDPR, data ownership, and legal accountability.

The solution

Parkwind, currently known as JERA Nex bp, has worked closely with e-BO Enterprises since 2010. What began as operational technology (OT) networking support evolved into a long-term partnership focused on digital operations.

Offshore operations platform

e-BO Enterprises was among the first players to recognize the need for a dedicated offshore operations platform, built specifically for wind energy rather than retrofitted from other industries.

Development of Offshare

That vision led to the development of Offshare: an operator-centric platform that integrates all core offshore operational processes in one environment. Offshare was built to scale beyond a single wind park, enabling operators to manage an entire portfolio — nationally and internationally — from one system.

For JERA Nex bp, Offshare combines:

  • Marine coordination for vessels, transfers, and crew movements
  • Safety & HSE workflows, including incident reporting and observations
  • Work permits and legally valid digital sign-offs
  • Transfer plans, inductions and training validation
  • Role-based access and GDPR-compliance

One-stop shop, open by design

Offshare functions as a one-stop shop for offshore operations, while remaining open and flexible. JERA Nex bp appreciates the fact that Offshare integrates with external systems, such as port authority platforms for vessel reporting, reducing manual work and minimizing operational risk.

Also, data ownership is clearly defined: all operational data remains the property of the customer. JERA Nex bp connects Offshare data to its own reporting and analytics tools, including Power BI, ensuring transparency and long-term flexibility.

GDPR plays a central role in offshore operations, where personal, medical, and certification data are unavoidable. Offshare was designed with strict role hierarchies and access controls, ensuring compliance without slowing down operations.

“What makes Offshare strong is that it’s shaped by real offshore operations,” says Verlinden. “It’s not theoretical, but it reflects how work actually happens at sea.”

“Offshare is a true operations platform - one system that brings together marine coordination, safety, work permits, and legal compliance. For contractors, it couldn’t be simpler: one link, everything they need.”

A partnership for mission-critical operations

For JERA Nex bp, beyond the technology itself, e-BO’s availability and commitment are key.

“When operations are at stake, you need a partner who is reachable and fully dedicated,” Verlinden notes. “With e-BO, we know that if something goes wrong, they will be there.”

That pragmatic mindset reflects e-BO’s background in mission-critical environments, where safety, continuity, and accountability are non-negotiable.

Looking ahead, as offshore wind operations continue to grow in scale and geographic spread, e-BO is further extending Offshare, including potential expansion toward asset management and asset performance capabilities, while preserving its open architecture.

Why e-BO Enterprises?

  • Deep offshore and mission-critical environment expertise
  • Highly flexible platform tailored to customer workflows
  • Long-term technology partner, not a software vendor
  • Proven service culture and fast response times
